• In 1995, midway through the production run of the Lamborghini Diablo, factory engineers developed a brilliant solution to the alternator overheating issue. They added an enclosed duct to the back of the alternator, which channels cooler outside air from the passenger-side air intake along the rocker panel. This modification significantly reduced the alternator's temperature by drawing cooler air into the alternator while the engine is running.
• The alternator’s fan pulls in the cool air, drastically improving its cooling efficiency and extending its lifespan. In my experience, I've never had to replace an alternator in a late-model Diablo, and I believe this clever engineering solution is the key to their longevity.
